Zip code 30122 (Lithia Springs, Douglas County) took hail on July 2, 2023: the radar estimate peaked at 0.55 inches, pea to dime size. That ranks 4th of 5 hail days of three quarters of an inch or more in 30122 since October 2020.
What hail this size does to a roof
Quarter size hail is the size most often behind roof damage claims. It can bruise shingles and dent soft metals, especially on roofs more than a few years old. That was about 3.3 years ago. Policies set deadlines for reporting a loss and for lawsuits, so check yours before assuming an older storm can still be claimed. Damage from it can still matter when a newer storm hits.
