Hail in 30132 (Dallas) on September 12, 2023
NOAA radar estimated hail up to 1.18 inches (quarter size) in zip code 30132 (Dallas) on September 12, 2023, with about 5% of the zip at an inch or more. That ranks 2nd of 8 hail days of three quarters of an inch or more in 30132 since October 2020.
What hail this size does to a roof
Quarter size hail is the size most often behind roof damage claims. It can bruise shingles and dent soft metals, especially on roofs more than a few years old. That was about 3.1 years ago. Policies set deadlines for reporting a loss and for lawsuits, so check yours before assuming an older storm can still be claimed. Damage from it can still matter when a newer storm hits.
