Hail in 30217 (Franklin) on May 9, 2023
Radar estimates over zip code 30217 (Franklin) were small on May 9, 2023, but the National Weather Service logged hail of 1.50 inches in the zip. That ranks 1st of 9 hail days of three quarters of an inch or more in 30217 since October 2020.
What hail this size does to a roof
Half dollar to ping pong ball size hail commonly bruises asphalt shingles, knocks granules loose and dents gutters, vents and downspouts. That was about 3.4 years ago. Policies set deadlines for reporting a loss and for lawsuits, so check yours before assuming an older storm can still be claimed. Damage from it can still matter when a newer storm hits.
