Hail in 30536 (Ellijay) on August 16, 2025
On August 16, 2025, hail reached an estimated 0.85 inches (penny size) over zip code 30536 in Ellijay. That ranks 8th of 11 hail days of three quarters of an inch or more in 30536 since October 2020.
What hail this size does to a roof
Penny size hail can bruise aging shingles and mark soft metals. Newer roofs often come through it, so an inspection is how you find out. That was about 1.2 years ago. Policies set deadlines for reporting a loss and for lawsuits, so check yours before assuming an older storm can still be claimed. Damage from it can still matter when a newer storm hits.
