Hail in 30223 (Griffin) on July 2, 2023
NOAA radar estimated hail up to 1.03 inches (quarter size) in zip code 30223 (Griffin) on July 2, 2023, with about 1% of the zip at an inch or more. That ranks 2nd of 9 hail days of three quarters of an inch or more in 30223 since October 2020.
What hail this size does to a roof
Quarter size hail is the size most often behind roof damage claims. It can bruise shingles and dent soft metals, especially on roofs more than a few years old. That was about 3.3 years ago. Policies set deadlines for reporting a loss and for lawsuits, so check yours before assuming an older storm can still be claimed. Damage from it can still matter when a newer storm hits.
