Hail in 30248 (Locust Grove) on July 2, 2023
NOAA radar estimated hail up to 1.05 inches (quarter size) in zip code 30248 (Locust Grove) on July 2, 2023, with about 1% of the zip at an inch or more. That ranks 3rd of 5 hail days of three quarters of an inch or more in 30248 since October 2020.
What hail this size does to a roof
Quarter size hail is the size most often behind roof damage claims. It can bruise shingles and dent soft metals, especially on roofs more than a few years old. That was about 3.3 years ago. Policies set deadlines for reporting a loss and for lawsuits, so check yours before assuming an older storm can still be claimed. Damage from it can still matter when a newer storm hits.
